Summer Fellowship - FAQs
How CAN I SECURE A SUMMER STIPEND TO COVER THE FELLOWSHIP?
TajRupt's fellowship program is unpaid. Our expectation is that fellows will work with their respective universities to receive a summer stipend. We will facilitate the process by providing relevant documentation and support. As an example, we are partnering with the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago to host a summer fellow. If you are an undergraduate student who is a United States citizen, we can assist you with applying to a summer internship stipend from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
What are estimated costs of living in tajikistan for 8 weeks?
Living expenses are comparatively low in Tajikistan. A budget of $4,000 would be more than sufficient to cover all associated costs for a 10-week fellowship. You can find an estimate budget for the fellowship here.
whAT TYPES OF PROJECTS WILL I WORK ON?
We expect summer fellows to engage in a variety of tasks including teaching, project management, grants and fundraising, and data analytics. Fellows can also lead strategic planning and operations, having the flexibility to propose and pursue their own initiatives. The following projects are planned for launch over the course of summer 2018:
- Digitizing civic education: expanding our impact to rural areas of Tajikistan by providing local public schools with access to digital services. We are planning to equip schools with internet access and computers in order to allow local students to virtually join after-school activities taking place at our ERC in Khujand, creating an online classroom.
- Establishing a data think tank: launching a research center dedicated to improving the quality and availability of data for sound public policy. The goal is to tackle systemic lack of data across public and private sectors that hinders effective governance and decision-making in Tajikistan and the Central Asian region at-large.
